However, the boss battles are still something to look forward to at the end of each stage, and your hard work and hours spent digging in the dirt will have paid off. The Boss Battles in this game are extremely good, but I feel that they could utilise the stage and its theme a little better. Each one has a brilliant soundtrack, style and design, layout, and, importantly, Boss. The levels are no exception to the creativity and nostalgia feel of Shovel Knight.
The Village acts as an excellent hub for you to trade items and purchase powerups/upgrades, and as for the levels, well. The characters are memorable and creative, the soundtrack is INSANE and the gameplay is simply a perfect blend of DuckTales, Mega Man, Castlevania and Zelda II! Your Shovel is a surprisingly effective weapon for SK to use and the game's difficulty, in my opinion, makes it slightly veer on the side of difficult, but is still challenging and fun (it's certainly no Ragequit Game, FYI).
